Our Story

The Watsonville Dubz were founded with one goal: to provide local youth the chance to play competitive baseball at the highest level while teaching values of teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship. Our 12U travel team is made up of talented, hardworking players who share a love of the game and a commitment to representing our community with pride.

Our Coaching Philosophy

Our coaches are dedicated to developing the whole player – not just baseball skills, but also character, confidence, and teamwork. They combine tough love  with genuine encouragement, making sure every athlete feels supported while being challenged to grow. With a balance of discipline, fun, and heart, our coaching style is what makes the Dubz stand out.

 – Jaime Mendoza  

Coach Jaime’s voice carries across the field — and so does his passion for the game. A natural leader, he loves connecting with players and their families while building a strong sense of team culture. With his experience, energy, and big personality, he inspires athletes to grow while keeping baseball fun.

 - Ruben Abrego 

Coach Ruben is the team's organizer, handling tournaments and GameChanger all with ease. On the field, his steady presence and focus on preparation help players feel confident and ready for every challenge.

 - Jun Pacheco

Coach Jun brings unmatched energy to the Dubz. Known for his positivity and playful spirit, he keeps players motivated – and every kid has a special handshake with him that makes practice unforgettable.

 - Ryan Mackey

Coach Ryan knows the game inside and out. With a deep understanding of baseball's rules and strategy, he's a go to source of knowledge for players, teaching them not just how to play, but how to play smart.

 - Greg Doubledee

Last but not least, Coach Greg is the motivator. His words of encouragement and focus on effort inspires players to give their best, reminding them that heart and determination are what truly set champions apart.

 

Our Nonprofit Structure

Watsonville Dubz is more than just a travel baseball team — we are also a nonprofit organization. Our team competes as the Watsonville Dubz, but legally we operate as a DBA (Doing Business As) under our nonprofit, Watsonville Travel Baseball, INC. This structure allows us to fundraise, accept donations, and provide greater opportunities for our players and families while keeping everything official and transparent.
